The Weeping Idol
The Weeping Idol is among the most haunting and strange works in Silas Crowe's Visionary Macabre. A monumental cracked stone head, vast and ancient, weeps thick rivers of crimson from its hollow eyes down into a marbled red plain, twisted dead trees clustering at its base and skulls drifting in the flow beneath a swirling impasto sky. Crowe paints the colossus with weathered, sculptural strokes and lets the bleeding paint pour in real relief. The image is mournful and monumental at once — a fallen god grieving over a ruined land. Sorrowful, sublime and unforgettable, it is visionary surrealism at its most emotionally charged.
An original oil painting on canvas by Silas Crowe, painted to order — never a reproduction. Turbulent visionary oil dreamscapes — blood-red marbled rivers, twisted dead trees and weathered skulls beneath swirling Van-Gogh skies; haunting, sublime and richly textured.
