Drowning Moon

Silas Crowe · No. 258

Drowning Moon

Drowning Moon is one of the most poetic and desolate works in Silas Crowe's Visionary Macabre. A great pale moon sinks into a churning sea of blood-red marbled liquid, its light smeared across the impasto waves, while twisted dead trees lean from a black shore and weathered skulls roll in the swirling tide. The whole sky turns in thick Van-Gogh spirals above. Crowe paints the scene with heavy, flowing strokes that dissolve land, sea and sky into one restless surface. Melancholy, sublime and strangely beautiful, it reads like the last night of a dying world — a haunting meditation on endings.

An original oil painting on canvas by Silas Crowe, painted to order — never a reproduction. Turbulent visionary oil dreamscapes — blood-red marbled rivers, twisted dead trees and weathered skulls beneath swirling Van-Gogh skies; haunting, sublime and richly textured.
