Bone Cathedral
Bone Cathedral is Silas Crowe at his most architectural and macabre. A vast ruined cathedral, its tracery and spires built entirely from bleached bones and skulls, rises from a plain of swirling crimson liquid, flanked by twisted dead trees, while an eerie pale sun burns behind turbulent impasto clouds. Crowe renders the gothic pile with obsessive, sinuous detail, the blood-red ground flowing toward it like a congregation of the damned. The result is awe-struck and dreadful in equal measure — a temple to mortality itself. Grand, intricate and deeply unsettling, it is one of the towering set-pieces of the Visionary Macabre collection.
An original oil painting on canvas by Silas Crowe, painted to order — never a reproduction. Turbulent visionary oil dreamscapes — blood-red marbled rivers, twisted dead trees and weathered skulls beneath swirling Van-Gogh skies; haunting, sublime and richly textured.
