Tulip Windmills
Tulip Windmills closes Lucien Aubry's expanded travel suite on a bright, orderly note. Bands of red, yellow and pink tulips stretch in bold geometric stripes toward a row of traditional windmills beside a calm canal, a small arched bridge and boat completing the scene beneath a big soft sun. Aubry works in clean outline-free planes of scarlet, gold, teal and cream, then lays a fine paper grain over all for the glow of a vintage poster. Cheerful, crisp and beautifully patterned, it captures the springtime brilliance of the lowlands in pure flat design — a fitting finale to the Voyage Modernism collection.
