Island Sunrise
Island Sunrise shows Lucien Aubry carrying his travel-poster language to the tropics. A stylised volcano rises behind a sweeping curve of palm-fringed beach, the jungle reduced to layered flat shapes of deep green, and a few catamarans rest on calm teal water. Dominating the sky is an immense coral-and-gold sun lifting from the sea — the warm heart of the composition. Aubry works without a single outline, letting clean planes of colour and a soft paper grain do all the work, so the scene feels at once modern and gently aged. The palette of coral, ochre, jade and cream is warm and inviting. Tranquil and optimistic, it distils the promise of a far-off island morning into elegant flat design.
