Tree of Life
Tree of Life is the work that introduces Edith Marlowe's Vitral Luminism. A great tree spreads its branches across the panel, its leaves cut from translucent ruby, amber, emerald and gold glass, two small birds perched among the boughs and gnarled roots anchoring the base, all held in bold black leaded lines. Marlowe builds the scene to glow as though bright sunlight pours straight through it, the colours luminous and saturated against the dark came. The circular composition and ornate corner medallions give it the dignity of a true cathedral window. Radiant, symbolic and exquisitely crafted, it turns the ancient tree-of-life motif into a blaze of coloured light — the perfect opening to the stained-glass collection.
An original oil painting on canvas by Edith Marlowe, painted to order — never a reproduction. Radiant stained-glass artworks — translucent jewel-toned glass in bold leaded lines, glowing as if lit by sunlight; nature, birds and celestial motifs.
