The Phoenix
The Phoenix is Edith Marlowe at her most triumphant. A firebird rises with wings flung wide, its plumage cut from flame-coloured amber, ruby and gold glass that seems to burn against a deep cobalt night, the whole held in strong black leading. Marlowe lets light pour through the warm panels so the phoenix glows as if truly aflame, feathers fanning into radiant scrollwork. Set within an arched glass border, it carries the timeless symbolism of rebirth and renewal. Bold, luminous and full of upward energy, it shows how Vitral Luminism can capture not just colour but the feeling of fire and light — the most uplifting window in the collection.
An original oil painting on canvas by Edith Marlowe, painted to order — never a reproduction. Radiant stained-glass artworks — translucent jewel-toned glass in bold leaded lines, glowing as if lit by sunlight; nature, birds and celestial motifs.
