Koi Pond
Koi Pond is among the most graceful works in Edith Marlowe's Vitral Luminism. Two koi circle one another among lotus blossoms and rippling water, their scales cut from translucent emerald, amber and ruby glass, a single pink lotus glowing in the foreground, all set in a circular panel of leaded came. Marlowe arranges the fish in the age-old emblem of harmony and good fortune, the light pouring through their bodies so they shimmer like living glass. The ornate dark border frames the scene like a window onto a sunlit pond. Serene, balanced and richly coloured, it captures the calm of circling koi in radiant stained glass.
An original oil painting on canvas by Edith Marlowe, painted to order — never a reproduction. Radiant stained-glass artworks — translucent jewel-toned glass in bold leaded lines, glowing as if lit by sunlight; nature, birds and celestial motifs.
