Moonlit Owl
Moonlit Owl is one of the most enchanting works in Edith Marlowe's Vitral Luminism. An owl perches on a leafy branch before a full amber moon, its feathers cut from ruby, gold and emerald glass, small stars scattered around it, the whole framed by an ornate arched border of jewelled panels. Marlowe lets the moon blaze with backlight so the bird glows warm against the cool cobalt night. The bold leaded lines give the owl real presence and dignity. Luminous, watchful and beautifully composed, it turns a guardian of the night into a radiant cathedral window — Vitral Luminism at its most magical.
An original oil painting on canvas by Edith Marlowe, painted to order — never a reproduction. Radiant stained-glass artworks — translucent jewel-toned glass in bold leaded lines, glowing as if lit by sunlight; nature, birds and celestial motifs.
