Sun & Moon

Sun & Moon closes Edith Marlowe's Vitral Luminism on a note of cosmic symmetry. A radiant sun and a crescent moon meet at the centre of a circular window — the faces of day and night — surrounded by radiating rays, stars and a ring of jewel-toned glass in gold, cobalt, emerald and violet. Marlowe lets light blaze through the warm centre and glow softly in the cool surrounding panels, the whole held in ornate black leading. The perfect balance of sun and moon gives the work a talismanic, almost sacred calm. Luminous, symbolic and beautifully composed, it is a fitting celestial finale to the stained-glass collection.

An original oil painting on canvas by Edith Marlowe, painted to order — never a reproduction. Radiant stained-glass artworks — translucent jewel-toned glass in bold leaded lines, glowing as if lit by sunlight; nature, birds and celestial motifs.
