Ski Resort
Ski Resort is Lucien Aubry's crisp winter showpiece. Snow-covered chalets and a slender church spire nestle among frosted pines while a cable car climbs toward jagged peaks and tiny skiers carve down the slopes, all beneath a pale golden sun in a cold flat sky. Aubry builds the scene from clean planes of white, slate, teal and warm brown with no outlines, then lays a soft paper grain over all for the warmth of a vintage poster. The mix of cool snow and warm chalet light is wonderfully inviting. Bracing, festive and beautifully ordered, it captures the joy of an alpine winter in Voyage Modernism.
