The Tall Ship
The Tall Ship is Edith Marlowe at her most adventurous. A great sailing ship rides cresting waves beneath a blazing golden sun, its billowing sails cut from pale cream glass, the sea below a churn of cobalt, emerald and white panels, the sky a fan of radiant amber and ruby. Marlowe sets the scene in a circular window with ornate borders, the backlight making the sun and sails glow with real warmth. The bold leading carries the surge of the waves and the sweep of the rigging. Romantic, luminous and full of movement, it turns a voyage at sea into a glowing cathedral window — Vitral Luminism at its most cinematic.
An original oil painting on canvas by Edith Marlowe, painted to order — never a reproduction. Radiant stained-glass artworks — translucent jewel-toned glass in bold leaded lines, glowing as if lit by sunlight; nature, birds and celestial motifs.
