Pagoda Spring
Pagoda Spring is Lucien Aubry at his most poetic. A graceful multi-tiered pagoda rises among blossoming cherry trees beside a calm lake, an arched red bridge crossing the water and a snow-capped conical peak floating behind, all beneath a soft golden sun. Aubry works in clean outline-free planes of coral, vermilion, teal and cream, then lays a fine paper grain over all for the warmth of a vintage poster. The blush of blossom against the cool peak gives the scene a tender, ceremonial serenity. Elegant, delicate and quietly spiritual, it captures the fleeting beauty of spring in pure Voyage Modernism.
