Lotus & Dragonflies is Edith Marlowe at her most tranquil. Lotus flowers open above a still pond while dragonflies hover on shimmering wings, the petals cut from translucent pink and amber glass and the insects from iridescent blue, all held in delicate black leading. Marlowe lets soft light pour through so the whole panel glows like a pond at golden hour. The graceful, balanced composition has the serenity of a meditation.
