The Hollow Throne
The Hollow Throne closes Silas Crowe's Visionary Macabre with a vision of fallen power. An empty, crumbling throne sits atop a mound of bones and skulls, ringed by a parliament of black ravens, set in a vast plain of swirling crimson marbled liquid where twisted dead trees claw at a dramatic impasto sky lit by a wan sun. Crowe paints the scene with heavy, flowing strokes that make the blood-red ground churn around the abandoned seat of power. Mournful, grand and deeply symbolic — a meditation on the vanity of empire and the certainty of ruin — it is a fitting, sombre finale to the collection.
An original oil painting on canvas by Silas Crowe, painted to order — never a reproduction. Turbulent visionary oil dreamscapes — blood-red marbled rivers, twisted dead trees and weathered skulls beneath swirling Van-Gogh skies; haunting, sublime and richly textured.
