Forest Stag
Forest Stag is among the most striking works in Edith Marlowe's Vitral Luminism. A noble stag with grand branching antlers stands among dark pines beneath a starry sky and a radiant star, its body cut from warm amber and ruby glass, the night behind it a deep wall of cobalt and violet panels. Marlowe frames the scene in an arched window with ornate jewelled borders, the light glowing through so the stag seems lit from within. The bold leading lends the animal a heraldic dignity. Majestic, luminous and quietly sacred, it turns the stag — an age-old emblem of nobility and the wild — into a glowing cathedral window.
An original oil painting on canvas by Edith Marlowe, painted to order — never a reproduction. Radiant stained-glass artworks — translucent jewel-toned glass in bold leaded lines, glowing as if lit by sunlight; nature, birds and celestial motifs.
