Cape Lighthouse
Cape Lighthouse is Lucien Aubry's most elemental composition. A red-and-white lighthouse stands on rust-coloured cliffs above a turquoise sea, flat-vector waves roll below, a single sailboat crosses, and seabirds wheel in silhouette beneath a big soft-yellow sun. Aubry strips the scene to its essentials — clean planes of rust, teal, cream and blue, with no outlines — and lays a fine paper grain over all to evoke a classic travel poster. The result is calm and bracing at once, the steadfast lighthouse a quiet emblem of guidance against the open sea. It is Voyage Modernism at its most serene and graphic.
An original oil painting on canvas by Lucien Aubry, painted to order — never a reproduction. Vintage flat-vector travel posters — the world's great cities and coasts in bold geometric colour, glowing suns and warm mid-century palettes with a soft paper grain.
