Balloon Valley
Balloon Valley is one of the most joyful works in Lucien Aubry's Voyage Modernism. A cluster of striped hot-air balloons drifts over a green valley town of terracotta roofs and church spires, with rolling hills, an old aqueduct and a winding river behind, all beneath a large warm dawn sun. Aubry composes in clean outline-free planes of coral, teal, ochre and cream, then lays a soft paper grain over all for the glow of a vintage poster. The floating balloons lend the scene a sense of festive wonder. Whimsical, warm and beautifully balanced, it captures the magic of a morning ascent in pure flat design.
An original oil painting on canvas by Lucien Aubry, painted to order — never a reproduction. Vintage flat-vector travel posters — the world's great cities and coasts in bold geometric colour, glowing suns and warm mid-century palettes with a soft paper grain.
