The Wishing Tree
The Wishing Tree is the cornerstone of Marisol Vey's Tessellated Luminism — and the work that announces her singular method. Vey builds nothing with a brush; instead she lays down thousands of small palette-knife tiles of thick oil, each a discrete facet of saturated colour, fitting them together like a glazier setting stained glass into dark leaded grout. The result is a tree of life whose canopy reads at once as foliage and as a cathedral window: scarlet, ochre, emerald and sapphire leaves crowd a dark sinuous trunk while the sky behind dissolves into a tessellated field that warms from amber at the heart to cool blue at the edges. Light seems to come from within, as though the canvas were backlit. There is real impasto relief here — the surface catches raking light and throws tiny shadows between the tiles, so the painting changes through the day. Celebratory yet meditative, it is a modern icon of growth and abundance, and a definitive statement of the house style.
An original oil painting on canvas by Marisol Vey, painted to order — never a reproduction. Radiant mosaic-impasto oils — subjects built from thousands of hand-cut palette-knife tiles fitted like stained glass, glowing with jewel colour and inner light.
