Nectar Light

Nectar Light catches a single suspended instant and fixes it in glass. A hummingbird hovers at a spray of trumpet flowers, its emerald and ruby body and blur of wings assembled from the tiniest tesserae in the series — Vey scales her palette-knife tiles down to register the bird's iridescent shimmer. The background is a calm mosaic field of gold and sage that throws the jewelled bird forward, while dark leaded lines give the blooms their crisp stained-glass edge. It is a small, luminous celebration of energy and lightness, proof that Vey's mosaic-impasto method can render not only mass and pattern but speed and air.

An original oil painting on canvas by Marisol Vey, painted to order — never a reproduction. Radiant mosaic-impasto oils — subjects built from thousands of hand-cut palette-knife tiles fitted like stained glass, glowing with jewel colour and inner light.
