Harbour at Dusk
Harbour at Dusk is Marisol Vey's homage to the old Mediterranean port, rebuilt tile by tile. Stacked houses and a slender church tower climb the canvas in warm terracotta and ochre tesserae, their lit windows glowing amber, while the harbour water below returns the whole town as a tessellated reflection in teal and gold. Overhead the sky burns violet to gold in a mosaic of small squares. The genius of the piece is how Vey lets the dark leaded lines structure both the architecture and its shimmering mirror image, so the scene feels carved from a single sheet of stained glass lit by the last of the sun. Romantic, warm and quietly nostalgic, it is a townscape that glows from within.
An original oil painting on canvas by Marisol Vey, painted to order — never a reproduction. Radiant mosaic-impasto oils — subjects built from thousands of hand-cut palette-knife tiles fitted like stained glass, glowing with jewel colour and inner light.
