Koi Constellation
Koi Constellation distils Marisol Vey's mosaic-impasto language into pure rhythm. Seen from directly above, three koi wheel through a dark pond, their scarlet, white and gold bodies built from glowing tesserae that catch the light like wet scales. Around them Vey scatters tessellated lily pads and concentric ripples in teal and indigo, so the whole surface turns slowly on itself. The dark leaded lines between tiles do double duty here — they are both the grout of the mosaic and the shadowed depth of the water. It is an Eastern emblem of perseverance and good fortune reimagined in jewelled glass, and one of the most hypnotic compositions in the Tessellated Luminism series.
