Wild Horses
Wild Horses is Marisol Vey's hymn to motion. Three horses surge across the canvas in full gallop, manes streaming, and Vey builds their straining bodies from mosaic tiles of chestnut, copper, gold and cream — the palette knife laying each tessera along the line of muscle so the animals seem to ripple with effort. Behind them a tessellated sky shifts from warm amber to dusty rose, the small squares accelerating the sense of speed. The dark leaded grout between tiles traces every flexing tendon and flying strand of mane, giving the stampede a stained-glass grandeur. Where her quieter works meditate, this one charges: it is freedom and raw power rendered in jewelled glass, the most kinetic painting in the Tessellated Luminism series.
An original oil painting on canvas by Marisol Vey, painted to order — never a reproduction. Radiant mosaic-impasto oils — subjects built from thousands of hand-cut palette-knife tiles fitted like stained glass, glowing with jewel colour and inner light.
