Swan Lake
Swan Lake is the most serene work in Marisol Vey's second mosaic suite. A single white swan glides across still water, its plumage built from pearl, cream and pale-blue tesserae that catch the light like mother-of-pearl, and its form returns below in a tessellated reflection among mosaic lily pads. The whole scene rests beneath a soft tessellated dawn of rose and gold. Vey keeps her leaded lines fine and flowing here, so the swan seems to move without disturbing the glassy calm. Elegant, hushed and quietly romantic, it is a study in grace and stillness — proof that the mosaic-impasto method can whisper as beautifully as it sings.
