Still Water

Still Water is abstraction at its most tranquil. Avery dissolves soft-edged blocks of misty blue, seafoam and pale grey into one another with no hard line anywhere, so the surface reads like light settling on a calm lake or breath fading from glass. The low-saturation palette and atmospheric blending place the work in the meditative, almost monochrome wing of contemporary abstraction.
