Paper Moons
Paper Moons is built on the quiet magic of overlap. Avery floats translucent discs of coral, ochre, sage and dusty blue across a warm cream ground, and where they cross, the colours blend into rich new tones, as if coloured gels were layered over light. The composition is airy and asymmetric, weightless yet carefully balanced, owing as much to mid-century collage as to colour-field abstraction. The transparency is the true subject — the way two simple hues can conjure a third, the way lightness can still feel substantial. Fresh, luminous and quietly joyful, it is a contemporary meditation on overlap that keeps a wall feeling open and full of air.
An original oil painting on canvas by Sloane Avery, painted to order — never a reproduction. Clean modern abstraction — crisp colour fields, soft gradients and a balance of hard-edge geometry and organic form in confident contemporary palettes.
