Palm Static

Palm Static stages the most beloved cliché of the synthwave canon — the silhouetted palm against a burning sunset — and rescues it through atmosphere. Reyes flattens the palms into crisp black cut-outs set over a gradient of magenta, coral and cyan, then drags the whole image through a veil of analogue scanlines and static. The grain is the point: it situates the scene not in any real tropics but in the degraded memory of a tropics glimpsed on late-night television. A thin neon grid anchors the foreground and draws the eye toward the low, dissolving sun. The effect is pure mood — a warm, electric melancholy, the sensation of a summer that survives only on tape.

An original oil painting on canvas by Nova Reyes, painted to order — never a reproduction. Retro-futurist vaporwave — neon gradients, perspective grids, chrome and synthwave sunsets in electric magenta, cyan and purple.
