Chrome Dream
In Chrome Dream, Reyes abandons the horizon for pure surface, suspending a knot of liquid-metal forms in an iridescent void. The chromed shapes behave like mercury caught mid-thought, their mirror skins swallowing and re-emitting the surrounding magenta-to-teal gradient until colour itself seems to liquefy. The work belongs to the lineage of the Y2K blob aesthetic, yet its restraint — a single sculptural cluster, centred and softly lit — lends it an almost classical poise. There is no narrative, only seduction: the eye slides across each reflection in search of a foothold and finds only more light. Cool, frictionless and faintly uncanny, it reads as a meditation on artifice — beauty that exists purely to be reflected.
An original oil painting on canvas by Nova Reyes, painted to order — never a reproduction. Retro-futurist vaporwave — neon gradients, perspective grids, chrome and synthwave sunsets in electric magenta, cyan and purple.
