Megacity Sunset

Megacity Sunset is the grandest vista in Nova Reyes's cyberpunk suite. A lone figure, a luminous dragon stitched across the back of a worn jacket, sits at the edge of a rooftop and looks out over a colossal neon metropolis as the sun sinks in bands of crimson, gold and violet behind the towers. Flying cars drift between skyscrapers wrapped in glowing signage and vast animated portraits; the whole city pulses with light to the horizon. Reyes stages the oldest Romantic composition — the solitary figure before the sublime, descended directly from Caspar David Friedrich's wanderer — and transposes it wholesale into an imagined future, swapping mountains and fog for an endless skyline of pure luminance. The warm dying sun and the cool electric city hold the image in tension, nature's last light set against the machine's eternal glow. The figure becomes our surrogate, dwarfed and contemplative, taking in a civilisation built entirely of light. There is awe here, and a quiet ache — the beauty of a world at once thrilling and inhuman, vast beyond holding. Cinematic, immersive and deeply atmospheric, it is a meditation on scale and solitude, on what it means to sit at the edge of a tomorrow too large to grasp.
