City of Lights

City of Lights shows Marisol Vey turning her mosaic language on the modern metropolis — and it suits her perfectly. A cluster of skyscrapers rises across the canvas, their countless lit windows rendered as glowing tiles of gold, amber and white, the dark towers structured by the leaded grout like the cames of an enormous stained-glass panel. Above, the night sky shifts through a tessellated field of indigo, violet and teal; below, the whole skyline melts into a river of mosaic reflection. The effect is electric and warm at once — the city not as cold glass and steel but as a living lantern. It is one of the most contemporary and immediately dazzling works in the Tessellated Luminism series.
