The Lone Cypress
A single massive cypress tree standing at the centre of a Provençal field, twisting upward like a green flame. A turbulent swirling sky of cobalt blue, ochre and cadmium with a small golden sun on the upper right. A golden wheat field at its base, two tiny figures walking on the path toward the horizon, distant blue mountains.
An original oil painting on canvas by Edwin Hartley, painted to order — never a reproduction. Thick impasto landscapes — wheat fields, cypresses and swirling night skies worked in cobalt, violet and chrome yellow.
