The Olive Harvest
Three Provençal peasant harvesters at work in a sunlit olive grove at late summer noon — one man bending to gather olives, a woman with blue apron bent over a wicker basket, a man with a straw hat standing with a basket on his hip. Silvery-green olive trees with twisted gnarled trunks, ochre-red earth glowing under bright sun, deep cobalt sky between the foliage, a small farmstead glimpsed at the horizon right.
An original oil painting on canvas by Edwin Hartley, painted to order — never a reproduction. Thick impasto landscapes — wheat fields, cypresses and swirling night skies worked in cobalt, violet and chrome yellow.
