The Cliffs at Étretat
An en plein-air side view of a chalk-white limestone cliff along the Normandy coast, seen from the sea. The white chalk is lit by mid-morning light: cream-white, soft ochre-gold on sunlit faces, lavender, pale violet, pearl grey in the rippled erosion shadows. Atop the cliff, green-gold grass moved by wind, a few small dark bushes. The sea in the foreground and through the arch is a vibration of Turquoise, aquamarine, mint green, deep violet in wave troughs, pink-white in the foam.
