Gilded Coast
Gilded Coast closes Soren Aalto's Gilded Strata on a note of tranquil grandeur. Coastal cliffs descend in layered bands of blue to meet a calm sea, every ridge and shoreline edged with shimmering gold, sea-stacks rising from the gold-lined water while a low gold moon and a scatter of golden stars hang above. Aalto's flattened paper-cut layering gives the coastline serene depth, the metallic seams glinting like moonlight on wet rock. Calm, luminous and beautifully balanced, it captures the quiet majesty of the shore at night — a fitting, gilded finale to the collection.
