Ember Peak
Ember Peak is one of the most evocative works in Soren Aalto's Gilded Strata. A lone volcanic mountain rises in layered planes of slate and teal blue seamed with gold, a faint warm glow smouldering at its summit, while a calm moon and a field of golden stars fill the night sky. Aalto's paper-cut layering gives the peak quiet monumentality, and the single ember of warm light against the cool blues lends a subtle tension.
