Canyon Dusk
Canyon Dusk is one of the most striking compositions in Soren Aalto's Gilded Strata. A deep canyon opens in symmetrical layered walls of blue rock, each stratum laced with a shimmering gold seam, while a winding river of pale gold threads its way to the horizon and a slender crescent moon hangs in a gold-dotted sky. Aalto's flattened layering gives the gorge real depth, the eye drawn down the golden river into the distance. Dramatic, elegant and quietly luminous, it transforms a canyon at nightfall into a serene celestial vision of blue and gold.
