The Letter Writer
A young woman of about 28 seated at a small ornate carved writing desk, holding a delicate gold-nibbed pen poised over an open letter mid-thought, gaze turned softly toward the upper right as if searching for the next word. Copper-auburn hair in a short wavy bob just below her chin, parted on one side, a single small pressed forget-me-not tucked behind one ear. She wears a long flowing high-collared Dusty Antique-rose silk gown densely embroidered with multicolor floral motifs — small sage-green olive branches, soft lavender wisteria, warm terracotta poppies, cream-white anemones, tiny gold quills and ink droplets scattered through the pattern — like a wearable writer's garden. Open letter half-written with visible flowing script, antique ink bottle and sealing wax beside it.
An original oil painting on canvas by Rosalind Vane, painted to order — never a reproduction. Ornamental gold-leaf portraits — lovers, mothers and dreaming women wrapped in pattern.
