The Reading Lady in Gold
A solitary young woman seated upright in a tall ornate Art-Deco-Byzantine chair with arched golden back, reading a small crimson-leather book held in her hands. Face turned down toward the page in serene concentration, eyes lowered, dreamy half-smile. Her vast flowing gown completely dissolves into a tapestry of decorative pattern — concentric spirals, almond ovals, golden circles, mosaic squares in gold, lapis blue, emerald green, ruby red, ivory, black. Dark hair pulled back smoothly with a single white daisy tucked behind one ear.
