Riad Garden

Riad Garden is among the most enchanting works in Idris Vale's Arabesque Isometry. An enclosed Moorish riad opens to the bird's-eye view: a quartered garden of orange trees and roses around a central marble fountain, turquoise water channels dividing the beds, carved arched balconies rising on every side. Vale renders the double tier of horseshoe arches, the dappled foliage and the long warm shadows with loving precision. The classic char-bagh layout — a paradise garden in miniature — gives the scene a deep, restful harmony.
