The Library
The Library is one of the most contemplative works in Idris Vale's Arabesque Isometry. A madrasa and library rise in tiers of arched reading halls around a quiet courtyard, a single still turquoise pool at its centre, carved cedar screens shading the galleries and the dark floor inlaid with golden calligraphic medallions. Vale renders the double colonnade, the deep shadows and the warm raking light with diorama precision. The scene radiates scholarly hush and ordered beauty, the eye climbing from pool to gallery to roofline. Serene, intricate and dignified, it turns a place of learning into an exquisite architectural treasure of Arabesque Isometry.
An original oil painting on canvas by Idris Vale, painted to order — never a reproduction. Luxurious isometric renders of Moorish palace architecture — sandstone courtyards, turquoise pools and intricate gold arabesque inlay, like jewelled dioramas.
