Dawn Sentinel
Dawn Sentinel opens the Tranquil Vectorism series with a held breath. Iris Hollis reduces a coastal dawn to its calmest essentials — layered cliff planes in ochre and navy, a smooth pink-to-azure gradient sky, a calm sea, and a single small lighthouse standing watch on the headland. The style is flat-vector and geometric: bold blocks of unmodulated colour, crisp clean edges, gradients reserved only for sky and water, and a delicate foreground branch breaking the geometry with a few soft leaf clusters. Hollis works in the contemporary editorial-illustration idiom, where simplification is sophistication and negative space does as much work as the forms. There is great serenity here, the quiet of first light before the world wakes, and a gentle solitude in that lone sentinel. Calm, modern and beautifully composed, it brings a clean, meditative stillness to a wall. It is landscape distilled to colour, shape and air — a daybreak rendered as pure geometric calm.
An original oil painting on canvas by Iris Hollis, painted to order — never a reproduction. Calm flat-vector landscapes — bold geometric colour planes, gradient skies and generous negative space in a serene, editorial mood.
