Coral Ascension

Lira Solis’s "Coral Ascension" depicts a tropical reef where vibrant coral polyps lift from the seabed, suspended mid‑air as luminous arches of liquid light. The scene is bathed in a soft, bioluminescent glow, where each coral formation becomes a radiant conduit, its colours shifting through a spectrum of teal, amber, and turquoise. The surrounding water is rendered as a gentle horizon, its surface still enough to allow the suspended arches to hover, creating a sense of weightlessness. Solis captures the delicate balance between marine life and the ethereal, with bioluminescent fish weaving through the floating structures, their own light echoing the coral’s luminous trails. The composition invites the viewer to contemplate the interplay of gravity and fluidity, as the reef’s usual solidity is replaced by a dream‑like levitation. Subtle textural details hint at the reef’s organic texture, while the liquid arches convey an otherworldly sense of motion. By presenting the coral as an ascendancy, the work suggests an expansion of the natural horizon, where the ocean’s depths become a realm of luminous, suspended possibility.

An original oil painting on canvas by Lira Solis, painted to order — never a reproduction. Lira Solis introduces a luminous, metallic-infused twist to the Liquid Horizons movement, exploring the interplay of light, texture, and fluid motion with a fresh teal‑amber palette and embedded iridescent pigments.
