Symphony of Sandglass
An hourglass the size of a cathedral dominates the centre of the composition, its sand replaced by sparkling ruby particles that cascade in slow, luminous streams. A conductor, robed in muted charcoal, raises his baton, directing an unseen symphony of moving shadows that glide across the interior walls of the glass structure. Each shadow, elongated and translucent, moves in time with the ruby particles, creating a choreography of light and dark that unfolds in a rhythm of colour and motion. The hourglass, its glass walls clear yet tinged with a faint amber hue, refracts the ruby sand into a spectrum of crimson and rose, casting a soft glow throughout the space. The conductor’s gestures sculpt the shadows, each flick of the baton sending ripples of darkness that intersect the ruby streams, producing a resonant interplay of depth and surface. Above, a vaulted ceiling of muted stone frames the scene, its arches echoing the curvature of the hourglass. The work balances the permanence of the monumental hourglass with the fleeting nature of shadow and sand, embodying the Chromatic Resonance Flux approach through its layered colour dynamics and kinetic resonance.
