Prismatic Beacon

In ‘Prismatic Beacon’, Duvall reimagines a historic lighthouse perched on a craggy cliff, its traditional lantern replaced by a rotating disc of glass that projects rainbows across a storm‑laden sky. The Vitral Luminism approach captures the tumultuous sea in deep, brooding greys, while the lighthouse’s stonework is rendered in weathered limestone tones, providing a solid anchor against the swirling clouds. The glass disc, positioned at the apex, refracts the storm’s intermittent flashes of lightning into a spectrum of colour that arches outward, creating a vivid, almost surreal juxtaposition of danger and beauty. Duvall’s use of colour is restrained yet purposeful: the rainbow’s hues are softened by the mist, appearing as translucent bands that ripple across the sky, echoing the lighthouse’s own purpose of guidance. The composition’s perspective draws the eye upward along the cliff, emphasizing the beacon’s reach and its role as a conduit between earth and heavens. The overall effect is one of tranquil perseverance, a visual poem that celebrates the lighthouse’s steadfastness while celebrating light’s capacity to transform even the most hostile elements into a resplendent display.
