Arcade Avian
In “Arcade Avian”, Cassia Vort fuses the kinetic energy of a retro arcade joystick with the flamboyance of a tropical parrot, producing a piece that is both a celebration of play and a critique of digital fragmentation. The joystick, rendered in glossy primary colours, morphs seamlessly into a bird whose feathers explode into shards of pixel‑shatter, each fragment a miniature cyan, magenta and yellow square that seems to glitch in and out of focus. The composition is deliberately chaotic, echoing the visual noise of a malfunctioning screen, yet the bird’s pose is poised, suggesting a moment of stillness amidst digital decay. Vort employs the bold outlines and flat colour fields typical of Pop Art to emphasise the contrast between the tactile, mechanical joystick and the ethereal, pixelated plumage. By juxtaposing the familiar arcade device with an exotic avian form, the artist highlights the convergence of nostalgia and contemporary media overload, inviting the viewer to consider how technology both constructs and distorts our perception of vibrant, natural life.
An original oil painting on canvas by Cassia Vort, painted to order — never a reproduction. Cassia Vort reimagines Pop Art through a luminous neon‑pastel hybrid, blending classic screen‑print crispness with hand‑painted glitch textures. The work feels both retro and futuristic, inviting collectors to experience familiar icons through a vivid, electro‑gloss finish.
