Wind of Dawn

In ‘Wind of Dawn’, Voss constructs a colossal glass windmill that turns against a violet horizon, each blade acting as a prism that refracts sunrise into a kaleidoscope of colour. The windmill’s towering structure, composed of clear, slightly rippled glass, captures the first light of day and magnifies it, scattering shades of amber, rose, and periwinkle across the surrounding landscape. Voss’s treatment of the wind as a silent conductor is evident in the gentle rotation of the blades, their movement echoing the subtle breath of the morning air. The violet horizon, rendered in muted lavenders, provides a calm counterpoint to the dazzling burst of refracted light, ensuring that the piece remains balanced rather than overwhelming. The work speaks to the transitory nature of dawn, where light is both an arrival and a fleeting moment, and to the idea that architecture can become a vessel for resonance, allowing light to vibrate through material. Voss’s meticulous attention to the interplay of glass, wind, and sunrise creates a meditative tableau that invites contemplation of the ordinary turned extraordinary by the simple act of illumination.

An original oil painting on canvas by Elara Voss, painted to order — never a reproduction. A newly emerging movement that fuses kinetic light phenomena with tactile materiality, exploring how photons interact with layered surfaces to create a resonant visual pulse that feels both audible and palpable.
